FFA Chapter takes Silver at Indiana State Convention

On June 17th-20th, seventeen students from Oak Farm Montessori School’s (OFMS) FFA Chapter competed in the 95th Indiana State convention at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Over 2,000 members and guests were in attendance from across the state as students competed in Career and Leadership Development Events, and gained invaluable experience and skills for career and life success; they also had a lot of fun!

OFMS students attended the six convention sessions with motivational speakers, awards, and recognition of FFA supporters. Crystal Leu, Oak Farm Montessori Middle School Farm Manager and FFA Leader, shared, "It was a great experience for the FFA members attending, and they represented Oak Farm Montessori well."

In our first year competing in Agriscience, OFMHS Junior, Derek Hale, won first place in Social Science, Division 3, and the team of Charlie Brubaker and Brady Snyder, were awarded the top award for Plants, Division 2. Both are eligible to apply to compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis this October.

The discovery quiz bowl team of Autumn Dixon, Evelyn Brittenham, Avery Cather, and Kaylee Routsong placed third at state. The discovery ag issues team of Ana Kochanski, Hannah Lautzenhiser, Bre Wolheter, and Avery Cather placed fourth at state. Students also competed in Vet Science and Ag Sales competitions; as well as other Agriscience categories.

Additionally, our chapter received the silver level in the National Chapter award and Derek Hale was named the Treasurer for District 3.
