Join Oak Farm Montessori High School students on Thursday, January 25th at the OFMS Wellness Center as they present their projects of learning for the 50th anniversary of National History Day. This years theme is, "Turning Points in History."
What is National History Day? It is a competition in which “students in grades 6–12 choose a topic and dive deeply into the past by conducting extensive research in libraries, archives, and museums. They then present their conclusions and evidence through papers, exhibits, performances, documentaries, or websites, moving through a series of contest levels where they are evaluated by professional historians and educators.” Through this work, students develop skills in communication, project management, and historical thinking. This is Oak Farm Montessori High School’s third year in the contest, and we have had student projects make it to the state contest each year.
Why attend? Our students want and need feedback on their projects. They have spent enormous amounts of time preparing this work and project evaluation and feedback from a variety of sources is important and desired.
Do I have to stay the whole time? No! The event is free flowing and you may stay for as little or as long as you like.
