Did you know that prairies and oak woodlands need fire to survive? Are you curious to learn more about how and why prescribed fire is being used at Oak Farm Montessori School? Are you interested in being part of the volunteer burn crew at OFMS? Restoration ecologist and prescribed fire burn boss, John Brittenham, will be teaching a one-day class on prescribed fire with special focus on how and why this tool is used at OFMS. Anyone who is curious about the use of prescribed fire for habitat restoration and/or is interested in being part of Oak Farm Montessori’s volunteer burn crew is invited to join us for this one-day training class. The class will take place on Saturday, February 26th from 9 am – 12 pm at Oak Farm Montessori High School. This class will focus primarily on preparing potential volunteers to be part of the OFMS volunteer burn crew, but is open to anyone and any experience level. Volunteers who have already participated in one of our burns do not need to attend the event to be part of the burn crew. For more information on the event or what will be covered, please contact John at [email protected].
